Built by a working CPA firm

AI can do your books.
It just needs to be told how.

You've heard AI can handle bookkeeping, catch errors on your tax return, and project what you'll owe. That's true — but only if someone who actually knows accounting sets it up. We've spent years building those setups for real clients. Now you can download them.

## Gate 1 — Reconciliations
Do NOT proceed to accruals until every
bank and card account reconciles to the
statement. If a variance remains:

  1. Timing differences first
  2. Then duplicates
  3. Then transposition (diff ÷ 9)
  4. Then escalate — do not plug

## Gate 2 — Balance Sheet Scrub
Flag any account that should not carry
a balance at close:
  · Undeposited Funds
  · Opening Balance Equity
  · Payroll clearing
  · Suspense / Ask My Accountant

## Escalation rule
If a judgment call affects taxable income
and you are <90% confident, stop and
flag for a human accountant.

The gap

The tool is free. Knowing what to ask it isn't.

Every small business owner now has access to the same AI a Big Four associate uses. Almost none of them get usable financials out of it. Here's why.

01

It agrees with you

Ask AI to categorize an expense and it will confidently pick something. Ask it again next month and it picks something else. Without a locked chart of accounts and an explicit decision hierarchy, you get twelve months of inconsistent books.

02

It doesn't know when to stop

A bookkeeper knows which questions they're not qualified to answer. Untrained AI has no such instinct — it will cheerfully make a call on a repair-vs-capitalize question that changes your tax bill by thousands.

03

You don't know what's missing

The dangerous output isn't the wrong answer. It's the complete-looking P&L with no accrued liabilities, no depreciation, and a bank account that never reconciled. It looks finished. It isn't.

What we sell

Our firm's actual workflows, packaged

Not prompt templates scraped off the internet. These are the procedures we run on paying clients' files — the checkpoints, the decision trees, the places we make the AI stop and ask a human.

Decision hierarchies

Explicit rules for the judgment calls, in the order a professional applies them.

Hard checkpoints

Gates the workflow can't pass until the prior step actually reconciles.

Escalation triggers

Defined conditions where the AI must stop and route you to a real accountant.

Working templates

Charts of accounts, memo formats, tie-out workpapers — the paper, not just the prompt.

Three steps

Buy it, load it, use it

No install, no integration, no consultant. If you can upload a file, you can do this.

01

Download the pack

You get a zip of plain Markdown files — the skill, the templates, the reference material. Nothing proprietary, nothing that expires.

02

Load it into your AI

Drop the folder into a Claude Project or upload to a ChatGPT Project. Each pack ships with a one-page setup guide for both.

03

Work through it

Give it your statements or reports. It runs the workflow, asks what it needs, and tells you when something needs a human.

Straight talk

What these packs won't do

We'd rather you buy the right thing than buy the wrong thing and want a refund.

To be explicit: LedgerKit sells educational tools and workflow templates. Buying a pack does not create an accountant–client relationship and nothing here is tax, legal, or accounting advice for your specific circumstances. Read the full disclaimer.
But when you hit the edge, a person picks it up. The packs improve continuously and no pack covers everything. When you find a gap, you can submit the case for assessment — a CPA from our firm reads it, may follow up with questions, and where it can be handled we extend the pack and send you the updated version. What comes back is a better tool, not advice on your facts.

Shelf is filling up

New packs land regularly

Bookkeeping and the core working packs are first. Return review, projections, and the industry-specific packs follow. Leave your email and we'll tell you when each one ships — and when existing packs get revised for a law or platform change.

Stop guessing at prompts.

Start with one pack for the thing that's bothering you most. If it works, come back for the rest.
